West Ham’s lack of goals continues to haunt them this season.

With the Hammers languishing near the foot of the Premier League table and none of their strikers firing, Nuno Espírito Santo has made it clear that attacking reinforcements will be a priority in January.

The club had previously been linked with a sensational move for Ivan Toney, though a source close to the club recently dismissed those rumours.

However, in a surprising new twist, it now appears that the deal could be back on.

According to Alan Nixon, writing on his Patreon site, West Ham are not only interested in Toney — they’re already “working on the deal.”

Nixon reports that the Hammers are exploring the best way to financially structure a move for the England international, who currently plays for Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia. The club are said to be looking into a loan deal that would see them cover a significant portion of Toney’s wages.

The journalist also suggests that Toney – once described as “incredible” by former Hammer Matthew Upson – could be open to the switch, as he’s eager to return to the Premier League to improve his chances of making Thomas Tuchel’s England squad next summer.

Toney reportedly earns around £426,000 per week in Saudi Arabia — a major stumbling block for any Premier League club outside the traditional top six.

Still, there’s no denying Toney’s pedigree. He netted 20 goals in the 2022/23 Premier League season for Brentford before moving abroad in 2024, proving himself as one of the most lethal finishers in England’s top flight.

If West Ham can pull off the financial gymnastics required to make the deal work, signing a proven goalscorer like Toney could be the catalyst they need to turn their season around.
