West Ham United are only just beginning life under Nuno Espirito Santo, who replaced Graham Potter after a difficult start to the season.
The Portuguese boss’ reign began on a promising note with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against high-flying Everton, highlighted by Jarrod Bowen’s 65th-minute equaliser.
While the performance offered a glimpse of improvement and boosted optimism among the squad and fans, Nuno’s focus is already on shaping a team that can compete consistently.
Even after just one game in charge, it’s clear the new manager is thinking ahead about the squad he wants to build. Some players may not fit his plans, and early signals suggest that changes could come quickly if he feels the current roster isn’t aligned with his ambitions.
In that context, top journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed which West Ham player could be the first to face the axe in January as Nuno begins planning his squad overhaul.
Ward-Prowse Could Leave West Ham

In his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Romano confirmed that James Ward-Prowse is among the players who may leave East London this winter.
The midfielder was axed from the squad for the clash against Everton, signalling his uncertain future under Nuno.
“Ward-Prowse is one of them, as he could leave the club. For others, it is still early, assessing options ahead of decisions,” Romano wrote.
GIVEMESPORT sources have also revealed that Ward-Prowse has been informed by the club that he has no future at West Ham, with “no way back” for the former Southampton man.
Although Nuno previously described Ward-Prowse as “very good” — and even brought him to Nottingham Forest on loan during the 2024/25 season — it seems that opinion has changed.
The England international now faces the prospect of finding a new club to continue his career.
