Let’s take a look at Chelsea for a second.
Antonio Conte is aiming to bring home this year’s Premier League title; one that will make his first season with the team even more special.
Chelsea needs to bank 29 points for that dream to come true and they will do everything they can to make it happen.
However, they have one big obstacle to overcome in the coming week. Chelsea will be facing none other than West Ham United in a Premier League match scheduled for March 6th.
After losing the EFL Cup, this is the time for West Ham to even the score and bring back some pride to home ground.
An Epic Match in the Making
Chelsea will be challenging West Ham with a full force. Conte can smile at this point, knowing that the entire first squad of his team is ready and in great condition. The team put in great performances over the past couple of matches and they would want to win this and be that much closer to the Premier League trophy.
What’s interesting is that Chelsea lost once already on this ground earlier this year, which means Conte will be extra careful when constructing his squad. Cesc Fabregas paired with N’Golo Kante would be the obvious choice.
West Ham, on the other hand, is confident that Andy Carroll will be ready just in time for this next match. He has been suffering from a groin injury, but Slaven Bilic and his team are doing their best to get Carroll ready just in time.
Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for Sakho and his back injury. Both Angelo Ogbonna and Gokhan Tore are also still out.
Clashes of the Past
Both teams have met 107 times before. Based on their past matches, Chelsea appears to have the advantage. The team won 48 out of the 107 matches so far, while West Ham can only bring home 39 victories. 20 of those matches ended in a draw.
Despite the injuries, West Ham has been showing good form lately. The team is benefiting from a huge level of persistence and determination.
A victory is just what West Ham needs to get back in the game and start a winning streak. This persistence was also seen among Scottish players in the Scotland vs. England match during the 2008 6 Nations tournament; click here to see how that match ended.
Experts’ Prediction
Considering both teams are equally powerful, many believe that the match will end in a 1-1 draw. Several bookmakers are also setting their odds accordingly, giving both teams credit for their prowess and recent achievements. Some are placing Chelsea as the favourite by just a small margin.
It will be an epic match nonetheless; one that you don’t want to miss. If you’re lucky enough to be able to get tickets to the match, you are in for a treat. Of course, we here at West Ham World will continue to cover the match and its outcome right here on the site.
