It appears West Ham sent a scout to Germany on Friday to catch the Bundeslida fixture between Hannover 96 V Werder Bremen as the club eye Senegalese versatile defender Salif Sane.
Sane has been outstanding for Hannover 96 this season and has been one of the best rated central defenders in Europe alongside Schalke’s Naldo.
West Ham failed in a loan bid for the defender in the dying stages of the January transfer window, and are looking to seal a permanent deal for the player before the 2018 World Cup starts.
Sane is also a good friend of Chieck Kouyate as they are international teammates and Kouyate could influence the player to sign for the club. The defender is valued at around £14m and the club are prepared to pay around £9.5m for his services as they are aiming to pair the 6ft 4″ centre-back with Angelo Ogbonna.
Additionally, Winston Reid’s time is up at West Ham with the club are willing to accept offers of around £12m for the New Zealand centre-back. Arsenal we’re linked with the player before Reid signed a new deal a few years ago.
Galatasaray and Besiktas are very interested in his signature but it appears that Napoli are front runners as they aim to replace Kalidou Koulibaly, who looks set on a move to Chelsea this summer.
