West Ham were extremely active in the summer transfer market but they did not manage to get everyone they set their sights on.

The Hammers were heavily linked with a move for Porto’s Algeria international Yacine Brahimi but the chances of the player ever moving to the London Stadium appear to be very slim.

West Ham were reported to have held talks with Brahimi in the final week of the Premier League transfer window but failed to agree on terms, with L’Equipe stating this has allowed Monaco to hijack a move.

The French transfer window remains open until the end of the month and Monaco, who beat Nantes 3-1 in the opening weekend of Ligue 1 last week, want to bring Brahimi to the French principality.

Leonardo Jardim’s side have lost quality in the wide areas though as Thomas Lemar left for Atletico Madrid and Keita Balde Diao sealed a move to Inter Milan on loan, with Brahimi emerging as the leading candidate to fill that void.
