West Ham target Southampton’s Lemina as Obiang replacement

West Ham continue to be extremely active in the transfer market, with both incoming and outgoing deals looking likely in the weeks ahead.

The Hammers are edging towards the sale of Pedro Obiang to Italian side Sampdoria, with Sky Sports stating the two clubs are in advanced talks regarding a €10m (£8.9m) deal.

Manuel Pellegrini wants to keep the Spain ace within his squad for the forthcoming season but Obiang will be allowed to leave if he decides to, despite being tied with the east London side until 2022.

Once a sale of Obiang has gone ahead, Sky Sports add that West Ham will push ahead with a move for Southampton’s Gabon international Mario Lemina to bolster their midfield options.

The 24-year-old only moved to the south coast from Juventus last summer and impressed in his debut Premier League campaign, making 25 appearances for the struggling Saints – contributing one goal and one assist.
