According to The Mirror, West Ham United’s move for William Carvalho has hit a stumbling block.
The Sporting Lisbon midfielder is keen to move to West Ham and the deal was thought to be close.
However, Sporting CP are now increasing their demands and West Ham are subsequently growing increasingly less patient.
The 25-year-old is a top target for West Ham but the Irons have been forced to consider alternative options in the middle of the park as a result.
West Ham could divert their attention to Danilo Pereira, who plays alongside Carvalho for the Portugal national team.
Both players are 25-years-old, operate predominantly in defensive midfield, are renowned for their physical power in the centre of the park and were part of the Euro 2016 winning squad.
Danilo has previously been watched by Arsenal but West Ham could swoop for him if they suffer any further setbacks in pursuit of William Carvalho.
Alongside Carvalho and Danilo, West Ham are also looking at another Portuguese based central midfielder as a contingency plan.
Benfica midfielder Ljubomir Fejsa, who has attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur, is on West Ham’s radar.
The 28-year-old is a Serbian international who also operates as a defensive midfielder.
