One of West Ham’s longstanding targets is Michy Batshuayi.
West Ham were very interested in poaching the Belgium international from Marseille last summer to team him up with Dimitri Payet but Chelsea swooped instead in a multi-million pound deal.
It hasn’t been an easy season for Batshuayi at Chelsea.
The physical striker has had to play second fiddle to Diego Costa and had only scored one goal in seventeen Premier League appearances as the Blues approached the end of the season – with all seventeen of those coming from the bench.
Rumours were circulating suggesting that Chelsea were prepared to sell the 23-year-old in the summer.
However, his recent form has made them think twice.
Batshuayi was the unlikely hero for Chelsea when he emerged from the bench and diverted the winner past West Brom’s Ben Foster to earn Chelsea a 1-0 win which wrapped up the league title.
Since then, he has scored another three goals in his last two games of the season.
West Ham are now keen to bring Batshuayi to East London to resolve the striker crisis and have submitted a loan bid to Chelsea, ESPN FC are reporting.
ESPN sources believe that Chelsea are reluctant to sell after seeing what he can do but a loan spell could be mutually beneficial.
Newcastle and Monaco are also interested in the Belgian.
