West Ham’s January rebuild is gathering pace as uncertainty grows around Guido Rodríguez’s future.

With the Argentine midfielder having asked to leave and given the green light to a potential loan exit, the Hammers are already preparing for life without him.

Squad balance has become a major concern for Nuno Espírito Santo, and recruitment chiefs are now moving quickly to line up a replacement.

West Ham have identified FC Metz midfielder Alpha Touré as a serious January target, according to reports from Wiw Sport.

The 19-year-old Senegal international has impressed in France since joining Metz from Génération Foot in 2024, becoming a regular feature despite his club’s struggles at the foot of the Ligue 1 table.

His athleticism and defensive awareness have caught the eye, and West Ham believe he could be one for both the present and the future.

The report claims the Hammers are making a “strong push” to land Touré this month and have already informed the player’s representatives of their firm interest. West Ham are said to be fully committed to the deal and willing to put forward a sizeable offer to convince Metz.

However, the move is far from straightforward. Touré is under contract until 2028 and Metz are reluctant to weaken their squad mid-season. At this stage, there have been no formal club-to-club negotiations, with West Ham still working behind the scenes.

If Alpha Touré completes a move to the London Stadium, he would become West Ham’s third addition of the January window, following the arrivals of Pablo Felipe from Gil Vicente and Lazio striker Taty Castellanos, as Nuno Espírito Santo continues to reshape his squad in a bid to halt the club’s slide towards relegation.
