West Ham should consider playing this alternate XI against Burnley on Sunday

One game remains in the Premier League this season and an underwhelming campaign is set to come to an end for West Ham United.

West Ham have struggled to replicate their success of last season after a poor summer of recruitment and persistent moans about the new stadium.

A number of injuries have also held the Irons back.

The Hammers will be hoping for better luck next term and could use the final game of the season to rotate the squad and have a look at some fringe players.

With injuries to Diafra Sakho, Andy Carroll, Winston Reid, Arthur Masuaku, Pedro Obiang, Cheikhou Kouyate, Michail Antonio and Mark Noble, Slaven Bilic will be forced to rotate his squad.

Angelo Ogbonna is back in the match day squad and he was on the bench against Liverpool but his match fitness is not up to standard.

Here is how West Ham could line up against Burnley to give some chances to other players on Sunday…

GK: Adrian

Adrian has just returned to the first team fold and kept three clean sheets in his first three games.

After poor displays from his competitor Darren Randolph, the Spaniard deserves to finish this season between the sticks.

RB: Sam Byram

He may still be a raw talent but Sam Byram could well be the long-term solution to the right back problem.

The more games that the former Leeds man gets under his belt, the better he will get.

CB: James Collins

Veteran defender James Collins didn’t have a great day at the office against Liverpool but deserves another chance to show why he should be considered when Reid and Ogbonna return next season.

The Wales international can be inspirational at the back on his day and his young centre half partner might need Collins’ experience to help him.

CB: Declan Rice

Republic of Ireland under-21 international Declan Rice has been tipped by Slaven Bilic to make his senior debut.

The 18-year-old captains the under-23 side, won the Dylan Tombides award and has a very bright future.

LB: Aaron Cresswell

In the absence of Arthur Masuaku, Aaron Cresswell is likely to continue at left back.

The once-capped England international has not lived up to his high standards since returning from injury so game time will only help him improve.

CM: Edimilson Fernandes

Edimilson Fernandes won Signing of the Season and the young midfielder will probably continue in the middle of the park.

Tidy in possession, the Switzerland international will be filling in due to injuries to Noble, Kouyate and Obiang.

CM: Havard Nordtveit

There was a lot of expectation after West Ham beat off a number of European clubs to sign Havard Nordveit but the defensive midfielder has not had a great season.

Recently he has shown glimpses of his ability but after a poor display against Liverpool, this might game might prove to be the Norwegian international playing for his West Ham future.

CM: Domingos Quina

If Bilic wants to try out some young stars, then Domingos Quina definitely needs a run out.

The 17-year-old Portuguese star joined from Chelsea in the summer and is considered to be one of our best academy talents at the moment.

RM: Robert Snodgrass

Robert Snodgrass has been a major disappointment since he joined from Hull City in January.

The Scotland international will be keen to show the fans what he’s capable of if Bilic hands him a start on Sunday.

LM: Sofiane Feghouli

Sofiane Feghouli has been a bit unlucky with injuries and a lack of playing time.

The Algerian international has shown glimpses of his talent and could be an important player next year but this could be another case of someone playing for their future at West Ham.

ST: Ashley Fletcher

Loan striker Jonathan Calleri is simply not good enough so why not give Ashley Fletcher a chance from the start?

The 22-year-old is tall, powerful, quick and strong but needs to be playing in order to develop and become a Premier League standard forward.
