According to The Sun, Everton are close to signing Olivier Giroud.

Olivier Giroud was considered to be one of West Ham United’s main transfer targets this summer as the Hammers look to bring in a goal scoring striker to solve the crisis up front.

With Arsenal closing in on a deal for Alexandre Lacazette, Olivier Giroud could be offloaded this summer.

Priced at £20m with a proven track record of scoring goals in the top flight of English football, it seemed a no-brainer for West Ham to move for the France international.

However, after beating West Ham to Henry Onyekuru, Everton now look set to beat the Irons to Olivier Giroud too.

Their chief scout Carlo Jacomuzzi has reportedly told the Italian media that Everton are signing Olivier Giroud for £20m.

He described it as a “bargain” compared to Napoli asking for £22m for former West Ham target Duvan Zapata.

Free spending Everton look set to beat West Ham to yet another deal.

The Toffees are expecting Romelu Lukaku to leave and have already signed Spanish striker Sandro Ramirez to replace him.

As well as Ramirez, Everton are closing in on Wayne Rooney and Olivier Giroud.

Meanwhile, West Ham could be forced to look at alternative options.
