Ahead of Thursday night’s Europa League clash with Genk at London Stadium, the club has set the tone nicely for more Declan Rice magic on the European stage.

Rice has two goals in as many Europa League games this season, scoring a wonderful solo-goal in the first game in Zagreb and then tapping home the opener in the 2-0 home victory over Rapid Wien.

He’s having yet another superb season in the middle of the park, further cementing his place as one of Europe’s best young midfielders.

And it’s his solo-goal against Dinamo Zagreb, where he intercepted a wayward pass in his own half before dribbling into the opposition box and slotting home through the goalkeeper’s legs, which has won West Ham’s September Goal of the Month award.

It was a superb goal and fully deserving of the award, and it just proved that there’s more to Rice than just tackling, passing and reading the game like a book.

The 22-year-old is also brilliant and bringing the ball forward into the opposition third, and he’s certainly improved his finishing of late.

He’s already matched his goal tally from last season after just ten games and he’s got one more assist than he created in 2020/2021.

Hopefully, we can see him back on the scoresheet on Thursday night as we look to make it three wins from three in Group H. You can watch Rice’s goal against Zagreb below…
