West Ham continue to eye defensive recruits to bolster their back-line but one move from the Hammers has been rejected.

The Telegraph state West Ham have seen a £12m bid for Craig Dawson rejected by recently relegated West Brom, who value the Northern Ireland defender in excess of £20m.

The Baggies are set to see a mass exodus following their drop to the Championship, with John O’Shea already moving to Leicester City but, having seen O’Shea leave for a minimal fee, are keen to maximise the figure they receive for his former defensive partner.

28-year-old Dawson is attracting attention from a number of Premier League sides, with Burnley also reported to have had bids knocked back by the Baggies, though it’s likely he will leave before the transfer window closes in mid-August.

West Ham have already strengthened their defensive ranks with the additions of Issa Diop, Ryan Fredericks and Lukasz Fabianski but it’s clear Pellegrini is looking for further improvements.
