There’s many reasons why the West Ham board is unpopular and the treatment of a fan favourite has now added another reason to the chart.

34-year-old defender James Collins has learned he will not be offered an extended stint at the London Stadium and The Daily Mirror says he was only informed by email.

Long-serving Wales international Collins has given years of service to the Hammers over two spells with the club and his treatment will have angered many.

Collins has struggled for fitness this season due to a number of injury issues, though he intends to find a new club to continue his career, and is understandably heartbroken with his treatment.

West Ham insist that Collins already knew he would not be offered fresh terms but it seems that’s not the case, adding another reason for fans to be furious with the club’s hierarchy.

The Hammers will be looking to bolster their defensive ranks during the summer transfer window and, though Collins departure was not surprising, his treatment is inexcusable.
