West Ham’s fortunes have improved slightly in recent weeks, with the team now unbeaten in three games and out of the relegation zone.

Yet, beneath the small bright spots, issues remain across the squad.

Graham Potter’s disastrous tenure ended in September, the defence continues to leak goals with Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo struggling, and summer signing Mads Hermansen has failed to impress between the stick — to the say the least.

Up front, Niclas Füllkrug has also barely contributed, and now it seems the German striker is set to leave permanently.

According to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, West Ham are now actively looking to offload Fullkrug in January.

Taking to X, he wrote: “West Ham are currently pushing for a permanent winter move for Niclas #Füllkrug, ideally at least a loan that carries a realistic obligation to buy.”

Plettenberg added that while “no formal offers have arrived yet,” the Hammers plan to use the money from his sale to sign a direct replacement.

“The club intend to reinvest any funds generated from Füllkrug’s departure and are looking to bring in one or two new forwards,” he wrote.

Füllkrug has scored just three goals since his £27 million arrival from Dortmund in 2024, looked out of sorts for much of his time at the London Stadium, and represents a significant miss in the transfer market.

With a long line of striker mishaps in recent times, including Sebastien Haller and Gianluca Scamacca, here’s to hoping they can finally get it right this time.
