According to The Daily Star, West Ham United are no longer interested in signing Chris Smalling.
Chris Smalling was thought to be one of West Ham United’s top targets this summer but it appears that the East London outfit are ready to abandon their pursuit of the Manchester United centre half to focus on other targets.
The England international is no longer wanted at Manchester United after the Red Devils snapped up Victor Lindelof from Benfica.
Jose Mourinho does not rate Smalling as highly as the new Swede, Eric Bailly, Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo or Phil Jones.
In order to reignite his career, the 27-year-old is now searching for a new club and West Ham were thought to be one of his possible destinations.
However, the Hammers are not keen on the £15m-rated defender any more.
This clears Everton, Newcastle and West Brom to continue their pursuit of the former Maidstone and Fulham man.
West Ham have decided against moving for Chris Smalling after considering our current options at centre half.
Winston Reid and Angelo Ogbonna are the current first choice duo with Jose Fonte the third choice if Slaven Bilic opts for a 3-4-3 formation.
As well as those, we also have James Collins, Reece Burke, Reece Oxford and Declan Rice.
