West Ham have been extremely active in the transfer market so far this summer but their business is far from complete.

A recently injury sustained to Winston Reid, leaving the New Zealand international sidelined for the first few months of the 2018-19 season, means West Ham are eyeing further defensive recruits.

The Hammers have already landed Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena this summer but are now widely attributed with strong interest in Lyon centre-back Marcelo.

French outlet Le Progres reports that West Ham are prepared to double the 31-year-old’s wages in order to bring him to the London Stadium, although Lyon are standing firm on their demands.

The Ligue 1 side only signed the Brazil veteran last summer for a fee of £6m and are demanding a figure around £20m if they are to approve a departure, with The Daily Mail recently reporting that the Hammers have seen an £18m bid rejected.
