The Nuno Espirito Santo era at West Ham started on a positive note with Monday night’s 1-1 draw against high-flying Everton.

Jarrod Bowen’s goal and an all-round improved performance brought early optimism, while Bowen himself hailed the impact of the new manager.

But for the Hammers to truly turn their season around and match the club’s ambitions, reinforcements are needed — and it seems a marquee signing could soon be on the horizon.

According to a new report from Fichajes, West Ham are preparing to make a formal offer for United States international Christian Pulisic.

The versatile forward, who left Chelsea for AC Milan last summer, has been enjoying a resurgence in Italy after an injury-hit spell in West London. While at Stamford Bridge he showed flashes of brilliance — most notably after the COVID restart — consistency was hard to find.

Since moving to the San Siro, however, Pulisic has rediscovered his best form and become a key figure for the Rossoneri. So far this season, he has recorded six goals and two assists in just seven appearances across all competitions.

Former Milan coach Sérgio Conceição once described the American star as “very intelligent,” and his tactical awareness, combined with renewed confidence, has made him a standout under Massimiliano Allegri.

According to the report, West Ham are ready to test Milan’s resolve with a formal bid of around £43 million. Premier League rivals are also thought to be monitoring Pulisic’s situation, but the Hammers are determined to bring the USMNT star back to England as a centrepiece of Nuno’s rebuild.

If the move materialises, it would be one of West Ham’s most ambitious transfers in years.
