West Ham are considering an ambitious loan move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Jese Rodriguez, as reported by the Daily Star.
With just three goals being scored by Hammers strikers since May, Slaven Bilic will be eager to boost his strike options in the January transfer window with a number of strikers already being linked, including Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge and Newcastle’s Alexandar Mitrovic.
But the Daily Star claim Bilic is also keen on PSG’s Jese, who signed from Real Madrid for £21m only last summer. The report claims he had been offered around to a number of clubs, including West Ham, before making a move to Ligue 1.
The Spaniard, who can play as a striker or an inside-forward/winger, has netted just one goal in 13 first-team appearances for PSG this term but Bilic reportedly remains a keen admirer of the 23-year-old.
During four seasons with Real Madrid, Jese scored 18 goals in 96 first team appearances.
With loan strikers Jonathan Calleri and Simone Zaza failing to make an impact so far this term, and Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll both struggling to stay fit for long periods of time, West Ham only really have young Ashley Fletcher as a consistent striker.
Fletcher, 21, was initially brought in from Manchester United for the long term and has been thrown in at the deep end earlier than planned due to other strikers at the club regularly firing blanks.
It is not yet known whether Jese would be open to a move to east London, but the Daily Star are reporting that Roma are also keen on his services.
Transfermarkt.com value the former Spain U21 international at £11.9m.
