West Ham’s search for attacking reinforcements looks set to intensify heading into January.
The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move for Ivan Toney, who could leave Al-Ahli on loan to return to the Premier League.
However, with his massive £426,000-per-week wages, a deal for the England international may prove unrealistic.
Instead, it appears a more attainable alternative may have landed right in West Ham’s lap — one who reportedly matches what Nuno Espírito Santo wants from his forward line.
Hammers “Offered” Toney Alternative

According to a new report from Claret & Hugh, a source close to West Ham’s recruitment team has revealed the type of striker Nuno is chasing — and it’s not Ivan Toney.
“Forget Toney. West Ham are looking for a very quick, mobile striker who can play across the front line,” the insider explained. “Toney is an out-and-out number 9 who needs pace around him, and West Ham are a slow team.”
“They need pace up front and pace in midfield,” the source added. “Yes, Nuno had Chris Wood at Forest, but he had pace either side and a quick player behind him. Toney had the same at Brentford.”
The source also revealed that while a deal for Toney is off the table due to his wages, conversations are already underway about new attacking options.
“West Ham have already been offered a player who fits the bill. It’s on loan with an obligation to buy — and no, it’s not Ivan Toney,” they said.
With Nuno determined to add speed and dynamism to his struggling side, this mystery forward could become a realistic January target as the club seek the firepower to climb out of danger.
