West Ham United finally enjoyed some positive news over the weekend, securing a 2–1 win against QPR in the FA Cup.

Taty Castellanos opened his account for the Hammers, Crysencio Summerville impressed with a goal and an assist, and Mads Hermansen put in a solid display between the sticks.

Despite that morale boost, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side remain in a precarious position in the Premier League.

The Hammers are 18th in the table with the worst defensive record in the division, having conceded 43 goals in 21 games.

January reinforcements remain a priority, and it seems West Ham could have been handed a surprising opportunity to bolster the backline.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Eric Dier has been offered to West Ham United, with the club reportedly weighing up the move.

A reunion with Nuno Espirito Santo is possible if a deal goes through. The pair worked together during Nuno’s 17-game stint at Tottenham Hotspur, with Dier featuring in 11 matches during that period.

Dier, who earned 49 England caps, spent a decade at Spurs before moving to Bayern Munich on loan in January 2024—a deal that was made permanent at the end of the 2023/24 season. German media hailed him as “flawless” during his time in Bavaria.

In 2025, the 30-year-old moved to AS Monaco on a free transfer, but his future at the French club could now be uncertain.

Plettenberg wrote on X: “Understand Eric #Dier has been offered to West Ham. The club are considering the option. At this stage nothing is advanced yet, but it is an interesting opportunity for them.”

With Premier League experience, leadership qualities, and a prior working relationship with Nuno, Dier could be exactly the type of player West Ham need to shore up a defence that has struggled all season.
