West Ham United’s troubles deepened again at the weekend as another narrow defeat compounded an increasingly bleak picture.

A late Raul Jimenez strike condemned the Hammers to a 1–0 loss against Fulham, extending a worrying run of form that now reads no wins in seven matches.

That result leaves Nuno Espírito Santo’s side stuck in 18th place, flirting dangerously with relegation as pressure continues to mount on the manager.

Goals remain painfully hard to come by, while Niclas Füllkrug’s expected January move to AC Milan only heightens the urgency to recruit a new striker.

With the transfer window approaching fast, West Ham’s search for attacking reinforcements has intensified — and it appears one option has now been placed directly in front of them.

West Ham have reportedly been “offered” the opportunity to sign AS Roma striker Artem Dovbyk during the January transfer window.

According to TEAMtalk, the Ukraine international has been made available to clubs as Roma reassess their attacking options under Gian Piero Gasperini.

Dovbyk, once described as a “tank” by former Mallorca forward Dani Güiza, enjoyed an impressive 17-goal campaign last season but has struggled to replicate that form this term, managing just two goals so far.

The 28-year-old joined Roma from Girona for around €38m (£33m) 18 months ago, but he is no longer viewed as a long-term solution by the Italian club.

As a result, Roma are believed to be open to a loan move, presenting a low-risk option for clubs in need of a physical centre-forward.

For West Ham, the appeal is obvious.

With Füllkrug heading for the exit and goals desperately needed to fuel a relegation escape, Dovbyk represents an experienced, powerful alternative who could offer immediate depth. However, competition could be fierce, with Everton also understood to be monitoring the situation closely.

If the Hammers choose to act, they may find this is one of the more realistic striking options available to them in January — even if it comes with an element of gamble attached.
