West Ham have given several youngsters opportunities this season amid a difficult campaign.

Brazilian forward Luis Guilherme, English midfielder Freddie Potts, and summer signing Soungoutou Magassa have all been given chances under Graham Potter and now Nuno Espirito Santo.

While some have shown promise, breaking into a struggling side has made it hard to truly judge their performances. O

ne player yet to make an impact is Ollie Scarles, who made 16 appearances last season and was described as “amazing” by Potter but hasn’t featured at all this term. Now, his future at the London Stadium could be set for a temporary move.

Nuno is reportedly willing to let Scarles go, citing his lack of game time and the club’s evolving squad plans.

Former West Ham midfielder Martin Allen told West Ham Zone: “There is potential for a loan move away. West Ham do need 18 or 20 players in their squad, and he is still young.”

Allen added: “He is a good player, and I’m sure he’ll play in all the cup games, but I’m not sure right now if he’s at the level that Diouf is.

“Nuno would like to send him out on loan; it’ll be good for his career to play in the Championship. Hopefully, he’ll do very well.”

A loan move could give Scarles the chance to gain regular first-team minutes and continue his development, while also keeping the door open for a return to Nuno’s squad in the future.
