West Ham have made considerable changes to their defensive line already this summer but Winston Reid’s injury setback has put the Hammers back in the market.

Manuel Pellegrini is widely reported to be keen on signing another centre-back, despite already landing the services of Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena, and could take advantage of another free agent.

Having already drafted in Jack Wilshere and Ryan Fredericks on free transfers, Sky Sports report West Ham are fighting Newcastle for the services of Mexico international Diego Reyes.

The 25-year-old boasts 53 caps for his nation and has already been approached by Turkish giants Fenerbache after his contract with Porto reached it’s conclusion in June.

Reyes would join compatriot Javier Hernandez if he completes a transfer to the London Stadium and would be seen as a major addition to a defensive line that conceded 68 goals last term – the joint-highest number in the Premier League.
