West Ham may be showing signs of life under Nuno Espírito Santo, but with the club still sitting 18th in the Premier League, nobody is pretending the job is anywhere near done.
Reinforcements are expected across the pitch in January, with a new striker, defensive cover and a fresh goalkeeper all high on the agenda.
Summer signing Mads Hermansen has struggled badly and is already being linked with an early exit, leaving Alphonse Areola as Nuno’s only trusted option between the posts.
West Ham need competition — and potentially a new No.1 altogether.
Now, it appears they may have identified the perfect candidate.
West Ham Monitoring Sá

According to Football Insider, West Ham are keeping a close eye on Wolves goalkeeper José Sá ahead of the winter window.
The 32-year-old has fallen out of favour at Molineux after being dropped following Wolves’ defeat to Leeds in September, and he has remained on the bench ever since. With Wolves reportedly open to refreshing their goalkeeping department, Sá could be allowed to leave if a suitable offer arrives.
Sources claim West Ham hold a genuine interest as they search for a goalkeeper capable of pushing — and potentially replacing — Areola as first choice.
Hermansen’s £20m arrival from Leicester was meant to settle the position long term, but after a string of shaky displays, he quickly lost his place. With the Dane now eyeing a move away, Nuno requires a dependable, experienced upgrade.
Sá, a full Portugal international praised for his “picture perfect” decision-making, has made 141 Premier League appearances and kept 33 clean sheets since joining Wolves. His blend of top-flight experience, physicality and calmness under pressure could make him an ideal fit for a team fighting to climb out of trouble.
Prem-proven, internationally seasoned and potentially available — on paper, it’s hard to argue he isn’t exactly the type of goalkeeper West Ham should be targeting.
