West Ham’s problems this season have been glaring at both ends of the pitch.
Sitting 18th in the Premier League, the Hammers have scored just 21 goals in 20 games, while conceding a worrying 41 — the worst defensive record in the division.
The January arrivals of Pablo Felipe and Taty Castellanos are designed to inject much-needed firepower, but the defensive frailties remain a major concern for Nuno Espírito Santo.
As a result, West Ham are also exploring options to reinforce their back line — and one familiar name is firmly on their radar.
West Ham Monitoring Cresswell

According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, West Ham are tracking Toulouse centre-back Charlie Cresswell, although discussions have not yet progressed to formal talks.
The 23-year-old has established himself as a key figure in Toulouse’s defence, making 17 appearances this season and chipping in with three goals, underlining his threat from set pieces.
The former Leeds United defender, now an England Under-21 international, is under contract until 2028.
“West Ham are keeping a close eye on Charlie #Cresswell. However, there have been no concrete talks or negotiations yet,” Plettenberg wrote on X.
Cresswell, who was described as “excellent” by former manager Gary Rowett, has attracted growing interest thanks to his consistency in Ligue 1.
Since leaving Leeds for Toulouse in 2024, he has developed into one of the division’s standout young defenders and continues to draw attention from Premier League scouts.
With West Ham leaking goals at an alarming rate, it’s no surprise they are closely monitoring defensive reinforcements.
Cresswell’s Premier League pedigree, age profile and strong form in France make him an intriguing option — but for now, the Hammers’ interest remains one to watch rather than a deal in motion.
