West Ham have changed their minds regarding the potential signing of a young striker and will turn down the chance to land his services.
Football.London exclusively reports that West Ham will not sign 16-year-old Swedish striker Alexander Alp, despite reports that suggested he’ll pen a deal after impressing on trial.
A source stated that Alp failed to impress during his week long stint in East London and he’s since returned to parent club AIK Solna, where he’s set to remain.
“The player had a brief trial with the academy, but just wasn’t up to the standard required to consider anything more than that.”
Previous reports had suggested West Ham were impressed with the teenager’s performances and they were looking to complete a deal swiftly but that doesn’t appear to be the case.
The Hammers remain in the market for improvements to their forward line during the close window, as they seek to push back from a disappointing campaign.
