Niclas Füllkrug’s spell at West Ham appears to have reached a pause, at least for the time being.

The 32-year-old German has struggled to make an impact at the London Stadium, scoring just three goals in his debut season and failing to find the net at all in the current campaign.

Injuries and inconsistent form have compounded his difficulties, leaving the club eager to offload him and free up space in Nuno Espírito Santo’s squad.

With Füllkrug now officially set to join AC Milan on loan, West Ham are moving quickly to identify a replacement.

The Hammers are acutely aware that their attacking woes – just 19 goals in 17 Premier League matches – have left them dangerously close to the relegation zone.

Finding a proven goal-scorer has become an urgent priority, and the club already has a player in their sights.

West Ham have reportedly set their sights on Palmeiras striker Flaco López as they look to bolster their frontline.

According to Somos Fanáticos, the 25-year-old Argentina international has been identified as a potential January target.

López has enjoyed a standout 2025 campaign, netting 25 goals for Palmeiras, an improvement on his 22-goal return in 2024.

His performances also earned him a first call-up to the Argentine national team, underscoring his ability to compete at the highest level.

No formal offer has been made yet, with Palmeiras reportedly valuing the forward at around €30 million (£26m).

The player has also attracted interest from Fulham, meaning West Ham could face competition if they act on their interest during the winter window.

If the deal can be secured, López would provide the firepower West Ham desperately need to replace Füllkrug and help pull the club away from relegation danger.
