It’s shaping up to be a busy summer at West Ham, as Graham Potter sets about reshaping the squad after a disappointing 2024/25 campaign.

The high-profile exit of Mohammed Kudus to Spurs has left a huge creative void — the kind of game-changing quality that desperately needs replacing. And with long-serving players like Vladimir Coufal and Aaron Cresswell also released, there’s been a significant shift in the dressing room.

In their place, West Ham have brought in a mix of experience and energy. Kyle Walker-Peters arrives with Premier League know-how, while El Hadji Malick Diouf brings youthful promise and positional versatility.

More reinforcements are on the way too, with Callum Wilson reportedly agreeing to join the club in the coming days.

And now, another well-known Premier League name is being considered to bolster the midfield.

West Ham Want Fabio Vieira

According to transfer insider Ben Jacobs, West Ham are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira, who spent the 2024/25 season on loan with his former club Porto.

Jacobs reports that Vieira has been added to the Hammers’ list of midfield targets, though no formal approach has been made to the Gunners just yet.

He also added that Graham Potter is planning to add “multiple” midfielders to the squad this summer as part of his rebuild.

Vieira, 25, originally joined Arsenal from Porto in 2022 for £34 million, but struggled to make a consistent impact at the Emirates. Over two seasons, he made 49 appearances — mostly off the bench — before returning to Porto last summer, where he’s since rediscovered the form that made him one of Portugal’s most highly rated young playmakers.

Among those who believe in his potential is former Marítimo manager José Gomes, who faced Vieira in the Portuguese top flight and remains a big admirer.

“He was born for football,” Gomes once said, per The Daily Cannon. “He has vision, quick thinking in reading his teammates’ and opponents’ movements, and then there’s his fabulous left foot.”

“He can solve problems with his quality,” he added. “That’s what intelligent and technically gifted players like him do.”

Vieira may not have fulfilled his potential in north London, but under the right coach and in the right system, there’s still a serious player there. And with Potter at the helm and the need for creative spark in midfield, a move to the London Stadium could make sense for both parties.
