West Ham United will resist any offers from Everton for Winston Reid, according to The London Evening Standard.

Everton were weighing up a £9m bid for Winston Reid, according to The Daily Mail, but West Ham will reject any offers for their star defender.

The New Zealand international has been with West Ham since joining the club from Danish outfit FC Midtjylland in 2010.

During his seven years in East London, Reid has become a firm fans’ favourite and he won the Hammer of the Year award in the 2012/13 season.

The 29-year-old has been a consistent performer when fit, forming an integral part of West Ham’s back line.

This has attracted attention from Everton, who were weighing up a £9m swoop.

Everton have been looking for a new centre back after discovering that Ramiro Funes Mori would be sidelined with a serious injury for a while.

That leaves the Toffees with Michael Keane, Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams as their only options at centre half, after they loaned Matthew Pennington out to Leeds United.

However, it looks like they will be fruitless in their pursuit of Winston Reid with West Ham ready to stand firm and not entertain any offers for their long-serving defender.
