West Ham are eyeing significant improvements to their squad ahead of the new Premier League season and are looking to take advantage of the free agency market.

The Hammers have already secured the addition of highly-coveted full-back Ryan Fredericks from newly-promoted Fulham and it’s now indicated they’re eyeing an experienced midfielder.

The Daily Mail states West Ham have ignited talks with 35-year-old Ivory Coast international Yaya Toure, who is available for free after ending his long association with Manchester City.

Citizens legend Toure is keen to remain in the Premier League and is also excited by the possibility of reuniting with Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini, who he starred under previously at the Etihad Stadium.

Toure earned a staggering £220k-a-week deal with Manchester City last season and will have to accept a significant pay-cut to move to the London Stadium, though it’s indicated the Hammers are confident of sealing a move for the veteran midfielder.
