West Ham have made a surprise move for Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini, according to Calcio Mercato.
The report claims the club have gone straight in with a €25million (£21m) offer for the Italy international following widespread reports that long-term summer target Carlos Bacca has decided against a move to East London.
Gabbiadini, 24, signed for Napoli from Sampdoria in 2015 but has struggled for game time since then – netting just 13 goals in 42 Serie A outings.
Having started just four league games last term, it was believed his time in Naples would be up – but Gonzalo Huguain’s switch to Juventus may have changed that.
However, it appears the club have identified the striker as a worthwhile alternative to Bacca, who clearly has no interest in signing.
Gabbiadini contributed just five goals and three assists from 24 appearances in all competitions last term, and is valued at £14.45m by Transfermarkt.com.
