West Ham’s need for improvements in attack has been well documented this season, with the Hammers preparing to solve their woes in the January window.

A host of big names across Europe have been linked with a move to the London Stadium but names closer to home have also emerged in the press.

One of those is Leeds United striker Chris Wood, with Football.London reporting the Hammers are keen on signing the New Zealand international.

The Yorkshire outfit have impressed this season, led by Wood’s 25 goals, but they may fall short of their aim to reach the Premier League as they face a difficult challenge in the play-offs.

As such, the likelihood of Wood leaving this summer has increased and West Ham are looking to utilise a secret weapon in their push for the striker’s signature; Winston Reid.

Hammers defender Reid is captain of New Zealand’s international side, with Wood acting as vice-captain, and West Ham are hopeful the link between the pair will give them an advantage in a deal.

Leeds are said to be demanding £15m for Wood’s services this summerwhich is certainly an affordable price, and his excellent goals-return could make this deal a bargain.
