West Ham’s recent resurgence continued at the weekend, with Nuno Espírito Santo’s side extending their unbeaten run to three matches.

After back-to-back wins over Newcastle and Burnley, the Hammers looked on course for another victory when Callum Wilson — facing his former club — struck twice, including a superb improvised second goal.

However, Bournemouth fought back late to earn a 2-2 draw, leaving West Ham frustrated but finally out of the relegation zone.

Despite Wilson’s timely contribution, the club remains determined to bring in a striker during the January window.

One name high on the list is Midtjylland sensation Franculino Dju — but an update from Denmark suggests a move won’t be easy.

Midtjylland sporting director Kristian Bach Bak has firmly played down the prospect of Franculino Dju leaving for West Ham next month.

Dju — a Guinea-Bissau international with 19 goals in 26 appearances and labelled “incredible” by coach Rodrigo Prieto — was the subject of a failed £13 million bid from West Ham late in the summer window.

And according to Bold, the Danish club would reject any fresh approach just as quickly.

Bach Bak is adamant the 21-year-old will not be going anywhere.

“I do, 100 per cent,” he said when asked if he is confident of keeping the striker beyond January. “I do that because Franculino knows that his dream will be achieved if we achieve something big together this season.”

Midtjylland are currently top of the Danish Superliga and have a perfect Europa League record, giving them every reason to hold on to their star man until at least the summer.

Bach continued: “Football is football, so we shouldn’t talk about amounts and prices. The most important thing is trust and that the club and the player have the same plan.

“It’s 100 per cent the plan to keep the team together until the summer… it would be the stupidest thing to do if we sold out halfway through the season.”

For now, Dju looks firmly out of reach — and West Ham may need to look elsewhere.
