West Ham’s pursuit of a striker this summer seems to have taken a surprising twist, with yet another Mexican being tipped for a move to the Boleyn Ground.

Last week Atletico Madrid forward Raul Jimenez looked close to signing for the club on loan, before reportedly (Inside Spanish Football) agreeing to sign for Benfica instead.

And fellow Mexico international Javier Hernandez has also been heavily linked with a move to the Hammers this summer, though MailOnline were reporting last night that the striker is expected to stay at Old Trafford this season.

And now a third Mexican striker is apparently in Slaven Bilic’s transfer cross-hairs, with bookmakers BetVictor listing West Ham as join favourites to sign Real Sociedad striker Carlos Vela, alongside Atletico Madrid and Wolfsburg…

Just a month ago the Daily Star claimed the 26-year-old had turned down a £21.4m move to East London, but Bet Victor reckon we’re still favourites for his signature.

Since then there have been no credible reports linking us with another move for the former Arsenal and West Brom striker, but it’s certainly an interesting development. Do the people at BetVictor know something we don’t?

I’d assume we’d lose out to the likes of Atletico and Wolfsburg should a transfer tussle ensue, though you can never really tell these days.

Just look at Xherdan Shaqiri’s move to Stoke!
