The end is nigh.

Well, that’s if today’s report are to be believed. This morning the Daily Telegraph reported that Sam Allardyce was to reject a two-year contract extension at the club, only for news that a contract offer had never been offered to be leaked around lunch time.

Whatever the truth is, it’s looking increasingly likely that we’ll be waving goodbye to Sam Allardyce after our last home game of the season against Everton on Saturday.

It’s exactly what a lot of fans want, with Allardyce seemingly distancing himself from any relationship with the Boleyn Ground faithful and the increased perception that, after doing everything that has been asked of him since taking the job four years ago, he has taken us as far as he can.

Regardless of whether you like him or not, it’s hard to deny the fact that it’s probably time for change at the club. There seems to be an extreme sense of negativity around the club at the moment (though that’s mostly coming from the fans on the back of a serious dip in results since Christmas) and we can’t have such a vibe during our final ever season at the Boleyn Ground.

So it was no real surprise to see the reaction from fans after the initial news of Allardyce’s future was reported early this morning. Here are just a handful of the best tweets we saw doing the rounds on Twitter today…
