The FA Cup dream is still alive and kicking, but an away draw against West Brom in the fifth round means it remains a tricky route to the final.
We have beaten the Baggies at The Hawthorns already this season, although now they’ve got a certain Tony Pulis in charge – and we know how tough his sides are to play.
That said, the omens are good for us. Firstly, you’d think West Brom’s main priority this season is Premier League survival, but that’s just speculation.
More interestingly, though, we had to beat both Everton and West Brom on our way to winning the FA Cup in 1980. Additionally, we’ve been ball number 15 in the fifth round draw in each of the three years in which we’ve won the competition. We were ball 15 for the fifth round draw earlier this evening.
All that aside it’s a tricky draw, but not impossible. Here’s how the Hammers fans reacted to the draw on Twitter…

West Brom v WHU we are away from home again. We are going to have do this the hard way. But when the going gets tough the tough get going.dg

West Brom away is a tricky draw for West Ham. Would be happy to take it back to the Boleyn Ground. #FACupDraw #COYI

On the 3 occasions that West Ham have won the FA Cup, they were also ball number 15 in the 5th round draw… Surely thats a good omen? #COYI

Would of preferred a home draw, WBA away will be tough but could of been worse
