West Ham underwent vast changes in the transfer window under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini but it seems they are still not fully convinced by their squad.
The Hammers bolstered their depth in attack with the additions of Lucas Perez, Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko but still believed there was room for one more addition.
According to Foot365 reporter Patrick Julliard, Pellegrini’s side were rejected by experienced French international Hatem Ben Arfa as he is holding out for a move to Lyon.
The 31-year-old former Newcastle United man is available on a free transfer after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired over the course of the summer and West Ham were keen on bringing him back to the Premier League.
However, the 15-cap France international intends to remain within his home nation – although it’s not clear whether Lyon will make a move for a player who did not make a single appearance for PSG last season.
