West Ham have significantly strengthened their first-team this summer under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini and could now shift their focus towards the future.

The Hammers have signed Lukasz Fabianski from Swansea City to start the campaign as their new first-choice stopper, following a year when neither Joe Hart or Adrian managed to impress.

West Ham look intent on avoiding a similar problem further down the line as they eye a move for one of Europe’s most highly-rated young stoppers, although they face a fight to land a deal.

Italian outlet TrivinetoGoal name the Hammers as one of many clubs interested in the services of 17-year-old Marco Meneghetti, who currently plays in the third-tier of Italian football with Pordenone.

The teenager broke into the club’s first-team last season and is now courted by the likes of Napoli, Inter Milan and Juventus, who will rival West Ham in the market for his services.
