West Ham face a tricky final stretch of the January transfer window.
While the club has already strengthened with the signings of Taty Castellanos, Pablo Felipe, and Adama Traoré, boosting firepower for the relegation battle, they could be set to lose two key figures.
Lucas Paquetá’s move to Flamengo has been approved, while goalkeeper Alphonse Areola is edging closer to a transfer to Beşiktaş.
With departures looming, the Irons have been forced to act quickly to reinforce crucial positions.
West Ham Eyeing Stefan Ortega

West Ham Zone reports that Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega is now on the club’s radar.
With Areola’s exit looking increasingly likely, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are exploring potential replacements, and Ortega has emerged as a leading option.
The Hammers were offered the chance to sign Ortega earlier this month, and the club is reportedly ready to move if a deal for Antonin Kinský fails to materialize.
Areola’s transfer to Beşiktaş is gaining momentum, and West Ham could announce his departure imminently once a suitable replacement is secured.
Ortega, described by Pep Guardiola as “world-class,” has spent the past few seasons largely in a backup role at the Etihad, but has repeatedly proven his capability when called upon.
With James Trafford now serving as deputy to Gianluigi Donnarumma, Ortega’s need to remain at Manchester City has lessened, opening the door for a move to London.
For now, Kinský remains the primary target, but West Ham are keeping Ortega as a serious alternative to ensure they have quality between the sticks if Areola leaves.
Securing a goalkeeper of Ortega’s experience and pedigree would give Nuno the security and confidence needed at the back, especially during the final stages of the relegation fight.
