West Ham may have already made three signings to bolster their defensive line but Manuel Pellegrini shows no signs of stopping.

The Scottish Sun claims the Hammers are eyeing the services of Lyon’s experienced centre-back Marcelo – but they will have to pay a hefty fee to land the uncapped Brazil ace.

West Ham have already signed Ryan Fredericks and Issa Diop, along with goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, and are also reported to be closing in on a deal to sign Fabian Balbeuna from Corinthians.

Despite this, Pellegrini is extremely keen on a deal for 31-year-old Marcelo but the Hammers will have to pay in excess of £15m to persuade the Ligue 1 outfit to sell a player who made 35 league appearances last term.

Crucially, Lyon can offer Champions League football to Marcelo after their third-placed finish in France’s top-flight last term – although it is indicated that Marcelo is keen on a move to the Premier League.
