Since David Sullivan became majority owner in 2010, West Ham have signed no less than 55 forwards.
A handful, like Michail Antonio, Demba Ba, and Jarrod Bowen, went on to succeed, but the vast majority (think Chamakh, Emenike, Maïga, Zaza and more) failed to make an impact.
That history of misfiring in attack has left its mark, and goals remain a problem for the Hammers this season.
With Antonio gone, Callum Wilson struggling, Niclas Fullkrug yet to find the net, and Bowen the only consistent source of goals, Nuno Espírito Santo faces the familiar challenge of finding reliable goal-scoring options.
Despite this, it seems the Portuguese boss isn’t ready to sign just anyone to fix his side’s goalscoring woes.
West Ham Deny Dennis Interest

The Daily Mail recently reported that West Ham had made tentative enquiries to sign the 27-year-old forward, who is available on a free transfer after mutually terminating his contract with Nottingham Forest, where he spent time with, but never played under, Nuno.
Dennis, who spent last season on loan at Blackburn, has previously been described as “explosive” by his former Watford manager, Tom Cleverley.
Hammers News approached a top source at the club to verify the claims — and the response was unequivocal.
“There is zero truth to the Dennis claims,” the source said.
“His agent is trying to push him on us, but the manager and the club have no interest whatsoever.”
Dennis has struggled for goals in recent seasons, scoring just six strikes over the last three campaigns, which perhaps explains West Ham’s lack of interest, with Nuno seeking long-term solutions rather than short-term gambles.
