Bolton Wanderers are set to sign West Ham United defender Reece Burke on a season-long loan deal, according to Sky Sports News HQ.

West Ham are willing to let their promising young defender head out on loan for another season to get more playing time and aid his development.

Burke has spent the past two seasons out on loan after playing some first team games for the Hammers at the end of the 2014/15 season.

In 2015/16, he joined League One side Bradford City on a season-long loan deal and thoroughly impressed.

The East Londoner swept the board at the end of season awards, including Bradford’s Player of the Year.

Last season, he joined Championship side Wigan Athletic on loan but was hampered by injuries during his spell there.

Burke was also forced to play at right-back for much of the season, despite his preferred position being as a central defender.

The towering youngster is now set for another loan spell in the Championship.

This time he will join Bolton Wanderers, who were recently promoted from League One.

The 20-year-old academy product will be hoping that a season of good form earns him a place in the senior side.

He will follow his team-mate Reece Oxford in leaving West Ham on loan this summer.
