West Ham fans will be familiar with the name of William Carvalho after a messy transfer saga last summer but they could now be handed a golden opportunity on a plate.

Portuguese outlet Record states Carvalho is one of three players who have moved to cancel their contract with Sporting Lisbon, citing just cause after shocking incidents this season.

Fans attacked Sporting’s training ground earlier this year and it’s now stated that Carvalho, Gelson Martins and Bruno Fernandes have moved to cancel their deals – following in the steps of Rui Patricio and Daniel Podence.

Carvalho is now set to become available on a free transfer, giving West Ham the opportunity to land a long-term target and save millions in the market.

However, the availability of the Portugal international will likely attract the attention of a number of sides across Europe and West Ham could be set for a fierce fight in the market.
