West Ham’s injury problems have not eased ahead of this weekend’s trip to face rock-bottom Sunderland, with another defender set to miss out.
Football.London reports that Sam Byram is a doubt for this weekend’s trip to the North East after rolling his ankle during Saturday’s victory over Swansea City.
The right-back was one of the Hammers’ stand-out players from Saturday’s crucial win over Swansea but picked up an issue in the first-half, although he played the remainder of the match.
Byram continued to excel throughout the second period but left the London Stadium on crutches, with it being unlikely that he’ll return to the starting line-up this weekend.
It’s certainly not good news for West Ham, as Havard Nordveit and Alvaro Arbeloa are out of favour- which could mean Cheikhou Kouyate moves to right-back.
Other options for the Hammers include bringing Aaron Cresswell back from his own injury issue or moving Arthur Masuaku to right-back.
Slaven Bilic could also elect to adopt a three-man defence this weekend, which would see Sofiane Feghouli play at wing-back.
