West Ham’s turnaround under Nuno Espírito Santo has given supporters a much-needed lift.

After an alarming slump that left the Hammers in the relegation zone, the team has now gone three Premier League games without defeat — with impressive back-to-back wins over Newcastle United and Burnley followed by a frustrating 2–2 draw against Bournemouth, a match they led 2–0 before letting it slip late on.

The mini-revival has dragged West Ham out of the bottom three, but the squad still looks in need of major reinforcement.

A new striker remains essential, the defence continues to leak avoidable goals, and upgrades in midfield are required — especially with James Ward-Prowse expected to move on.

With January approaching, the club has already begun laying the groundwork for potential business.

West Ham Make Contact with Cajetan Lenz

According to a new report from Sky Sport Germany, West Ham have made an approach for VfL Bochum’s rising star Cajetan Lenz, one of the Bundesliga’s standout young midfielders this season.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a breakout campaign in defensive midfield, delivering mature, commanding performances that have caught the attention of virtually every Bundesliga side — reportedly all of them except Bayern Munich.

His rapid rise has now drawn interest from abroad, with West Ham among the clubs to enquire about his availability.

Lenz’s agent, Makram Naceur of Nacrsports, has publicly acknowledged the growing attention surrounding his client, confirming contact from both Germany and overseas.

“I can confirm that many clubs, both national and international, have contacted him. However, Cajetan is completely focused on his boyhood club VfL Bochum,” said Naceur, according to Sky Germany.

Lenz has contributed 2 goals and 2 assists in 15 appearances, establishing himself as one of Bochum’s most important players despite his age. His combination of ball-winning ability, composure in possession and positional intelligence has made him one of the Bundesliga’s fastest-rising midfield talents.

West Ham are expected to continue monitoring him closely, but given his commitment to Bochum and the club’s desire to keep him, a January transfer may prove difficult. A summer move appears far more realistic — but the Hammers have made sure they are in the conversation early.
