Finally! We can all go to bed now.

Three weeks after David Gold told us all on Twitter to not ‘go to bed’ we’ve finally signed someone.

The club have announced the arrival of former PSG winger Nene on a short team deal until the end of the season.

The Brazilian was once highy-rated star in Europe and has produced admirably wherever he has played throughout his career.

Upon signing, the 33-year-old said: “I am very excited and happy to be here. I’m proud to come to a really big club like West Ham and I’m going to do my best to help the team. I’ve been thinking about coming back to Europe for a few months because here the football, the ambience, everything is better.

“It’s a really good challenge for me, to come to a competition like the Premier League. It’s the most competitive in the world so this is the motivation for me.”

Wondering what kind of player he is? Let the man himself explain: “I like to get on the ball and show my technique.

“I like taking free-kicks, so practice to be good at that. I like making assists – that is my real work, to make the final pass to put the striker in a good position to score the goals.”

The fact he can play up front, as well as one the wing, is a huge bonus for us, particularly as we head in to a important end to the season. Finish well and we give ourselves every chance of a top eight finish. Finish poorly and we’ll be finishing in 13th again.

Here’s how the fans reacted to our new arrival…
