Manuel Pellegrini is already working his magic at West Ham and he looks set to be reunited with a former colleague.

The Guardian states the Hammers are on the verge of appointing Mario Husillos as the club’s new head of recruitment, who will leave relegated LaLiga outfit Malaga.

Pellegrini worked alongside Husillos during his previous stint with the Spanish side and he’ll arrive to significantly overhaul the club’s recruitment drive, which has been heavily criticised in recent seasons.

In Husillos’ most successful period at Malaga, he helped the side reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League and masterminded the transfers of Isco, Nacho Monreal, Juanmi, Joaquin and Jeremy Toulalan, who were later sold for a healthy profit.

However, he returned to Malaga in October and endured a rather difficult stint. While the damage leading to the club’s relegation was already done, he signed eight players in January – none of whom proved to be a success.
