West Ham’s struggles this season have been stark.

A run of disappointing results, most recently a 2-0 defeat to London rivals Arsenal in which former Hammer Declan Rice scored, has left fans frustrated.

While Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta have chipped in with three goals apiece, the lack of consistent firepower from the club’s out-and-out strikers has been glaring, with Callum Wilson scoring just once, and Niclas Fullkrug not at all.

Those striking woes that have been exacerbated following Michail Antonio’s departure. Having their Premier League record goalscorer on the books may just have been useful after all, huh?

Fear not, however, for it appears a potential solution could be on the horizon.

According to Claret & Hugh, West Ham could get a fresh opportunity to sign Taty Castellanos in the January window.

Reports from Italy indicate Lazio may be willing to part ways with the Argentine striker in order to fund new signings.

The 27-year-old forward, described as “extraordinary” by former coach Marco Baroni, has already contributed two goals and three assists in six Serie A appearances this season.

Despite his promising start, Lazio are reportedly open to selling Castellanos as they prepare to lift their transfer ban. The Italian club are asking around £26 million—a fee intended to support reinforcements requested by manager Maurizio Sarri.

West Ham, who have previously shown interest in the striker, now face competition from several Premier League clubs, including Everton, Nottingham Forest, Burnley, and Wolves.

Spanish sides Villarreal and Real Betis are also tracking the player.

If a deal can be struck, Castellanos could provide a much-needed spark to a West Ham attack that has struggled for goals throughout the season.
