West Ham United’s miserable run continued on Tuesday night as they slipped to a 2–1 defeat against Nottingham Forest, extending their winless streak to 10 matches and leaving them firmly stuck in the relegation zone.
The result was particularly cruel on Nuno Espírito Santo’s side. West Ham were the better team for long spells and took a deserved lead through Crysencio Summerville, only for a second-half turnaround to undo their work.
A Nicolas Dominguez equaliser shifted the momentum before a late Morgan Gibbs-White penalty sealed the Hammers’ fate — awarded after Alphonse Areola clattered into the Forest midfielder while attempting to claim a high ball.
It was another gut punch in a season full of them. And now, amid the on-pitch struggles, it appears things are about to turn bleak off it as well for one senior member of the squad.
West Ham In Talks to Terminate Callum Wilson’s Contract

West Ham are closing in on an agreement to terminate Callum Wilson’s contract, according to BBC Sport, just months after the striker arrived at the London Stadium.
Wilson, once described as “outstanding” by Alan Shearer, joined the Hammers on a free transfer in the summer and has scored four goals in 18 appearances.
However, his role has been marginalised following the January arrivals of Pablo Felipe and Taty Castellanos, both personally approved by Nuno Espírito Santo.
At 33 years old, Wilson is unwilling to settle for a reduced role and is determined to continue playing regular first-team football. With his minutes set to dry up, both parties now appear aligned on an early exit. Talks are underway to release him from the final six months of his deal, with sources suggesting an agreement is close.
Nuno confirmed the situation himself on Monday, revealing frank discussions with the striker.
“Me and Callum we had a lot of conversations, just 10 minutes ago we were speaking about that situation,” Nuno said.
“Two strikers have joined, correct. I personally decided these strikers have joined. Callum is a very experienced man, he’s been in the game for so much time, he knows that his position has changed.”
“We were honest with each other. Yes, your position has changed, but you are still a player for the club and we still maybe need him and he should help us because he joined us.”
Despite those words, the direction of travel is clear. Wilson’s departure would be another reminder of how quickly West Ham’s summer plans have unravelled — and how rapidly the club is now being forced into damage limitation mode as the relegation fight intensifies.
